How to estimate gravel for your project
Gravel is usually delivered in bulk and sold by the ton, but it is measured by volume. Enter your area and depth to get cubic yards, then this calculator converts to tons so you can order by weight, plus a bag count for small top-ups.
Gravel weighs roughly 1.4 tons per cubic yard, though exact weight varies with stone size and moisture. For a driveway, plan a 3 to 4 inch depth over a compacted base; for paths and drainage, 2 to 3 inches is usually enough.
