Paver base is the compacted crushed-stone layer that keeps a patio or walkway from heaving and settling. Enter your area and base depth to get cubic yards, tons for a bulk order, and a bag count for smaller projects.
Plan a compacted base of about 4 inches for a walkway and 6 inches for a patio or anything that carries weight. Compact it in 2 inch lifts with a plate compactor, then add your 1 inch sand bedding layer on top.
